Residential Solutions
As a homeowner, we can help you navigate through the complexities of going green with as much or as little involvement into the technology as you wish.
We enjoy educating the homeowner about what we do, however we realize that just because you have a desire to be environmentally conscious it doesn't necessarily mean you care to study technology.
Home solutions generally involve solar and wind power more than hydro.
Solar Power
Solar power re-fitting is the best investment you can make in your house in terms of return for the dollar spent ($1.28 More than bathroom remodeling $.85 on the dollar), kitchen remodeling ($.80 on the dollar), or deck addition ($.77 on the dollar).
Anybody who has southern exposure on any part of their roof is a viable candidate. If you don't, we can install a stand-alone tracking system to track the sun and keep the panel in sunlight for a longer period of each day. The type of system depends on
- Orientation of building
- Shading at the site
- Weather considerations
- Roof Material
- Soil and or roof load bearing capacity
If you are located within an area with an electrical grid (tied to the city or county electrical system) your would remain connected to the system and we would install photovoltaic panels which then connect to an Inverter, then to the main AC Service Panel in your home.
For areas where you are not within an existing electrical grid, or for some reason want to separate from it, the following illustration shows a non-grid application. The photovoltaic panel brings electricity to the Charge Controller which connects to a Battery Bank which in turns connects to an Inverter that converts Direct Current (DC) into to Alternating Current (AC). The AC load then is distributed into your home electrical panel
We can install several solutions independently or in combination to power your home. Patio covers, Roof panels, roofing tiles, and ground mounted systems are a few of the alternatives available today. Who knows what tomorrow holds.
If you are looking for a solar electric photovoltaic (PV) system that will eliminate your electricity bill, without being seen, then BIPV (Built in Photovoltaic) is the way to go. Sharp manufactures these sleek streamlined solar roof modules are interlocked with your tile roof to blend seamlessly, while eliminating your electricity bill, along with saving you money. Wind Power
To utilize wind power, you need some height to get above adjacent structures and up into the undisturbed wind currents. For this reason, it is often not as advantageous to use wind as it is solar solutions in the city. We do have a variety of wind turbines in different shapes and sizes for your home.
Typically, a hybrid system of wind and solar is used for residences.
